The first FEx Street Photography Competition

The First Fumbally Exchange Street Photography Competition culminated in a great awards night on the 1st May in our fabulous Ground Floor exhibition space on Dame Lane5, Dublin.

The theme of the event was 'Fex in the City' - the intention to celebrate our three inner city locations in Balbriggan, Waterford and Dublin. So over the last weeks droves of Fumballiers strolled around their respective neighbourhoods, pointing their mobile phones around hidden corners, shooting from the hip into shady alley ways, below their feet and up towards the sky.

The result were a stunning 35 entries, all as diverse as the mix of our community, but all with their own personal commentary on our location and of the highest caliber. True to the spirit of street photography they were all exhibited at post card size prints and laid out like a giant mural dramatically lit on the wall of our ground floor exhibition space.

The exhibition already caught a lot of attention earlier on at the visit of Michael D. Higgins opening the Dublin Exchange.

Award winning photographer Mark Griffin kindly acted as external judge and awarded three Highly Commended and three top Winners. His insights into the judging process and individual commentary on the winning entries were insightful and highly entertaining.

True to Fumbally Exchange's ethos of involvement in local communities, the three top prizes, restaurant dinner vouchers, were kindly sponsored by our neighbours Keogh's Cafe of Trinity Street, The Red Torch Ginger of St. Andrew's Street and Fallon&Byrne of Exchequer Street . Many thank to all !

And last but not least, many thanks to our own Aisling Griffin of Treetop Studio  for designing the beautiful competition poster, and of course all volunteers who helped to realize the exhibition.

And here the winning entries:
